Mike Davenport
The Ataris
Mike Davenport is pop-punk’s version of a rock star. With The Ataris, Davenport had the opportunity to play music around the world as bassist in one of the hottest bands for the Hot Topic generation. Along with Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and others, Davenport helped make punk—or, rather, the bubblegum version of it—commercialized and mainstream. One must be careful before bashing Davenport, because he is reinventing himself with his new project, a band called Versus The World. Davenport recently split with The Ataris and is now focusing solely on his new band, which is already receiving acclaim. Versus The World toured on this year’s Warped Tour and signed a contract with Kung Fu Records, proving that Davenport hasn’t finished penning his legacy quite yet.
